Launched last weekend at the Collingwood Farmers' Market! Want to know what to do with that weird lookin' veggie you can find at the farmers' market? Look no further! August 3rd marked the first day of the new Farmers' Market campaign entitled "What the Heck do I do With?", funded by Foodland Ontario, "What the Heck do I do With" helps farmers' market customers learn a little bit about the importance of the more obscure veggies at the market, as well as teaches how to use them in their regular diet. Information and recipe cards, as well as demonstrations, will be offered. Every other week a new vegetable will be featured.
"What the Heck do I do With?" started out as a facebook campaign started by Market Manager Rachel Thomas. Upon receiving funding from Foodland Ontario, the decision was made to create cards that market-goers could take home. "We are encouraging Collingwood to try new things as well as support local farmers. There seems to be a renewed interest in eating local food, and 'What the Heck do I do with?' offers an opportunity to learn about what's growing in our area", says Farmers' Market coordinator, Rachel Thomas.
The Collingwood Farmers' Market runs every Saturday from May 18th-October 12th on the corner of Second and Pine streets. There are many different types and varieties of produce for even the pickiest of eaters.
So come on out! Learn and feed your curiosity! And remember: we're naturally appealing!
