On October 1st. at 11am, Men from Collingwood, Stayner, Creemore, Wasaga Beach and the Town of The Blue Mountains will once again meet in front of downtown Collingwood Town Hall and don a pair of red high heels for a one mile walk to raise money and awareness for My Friends House.

They say: "You can't really understand another person's experiences until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it is fun and it gets our community talking about something that's really difficult to talk about: violence against women.

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' is an event benefitting My Friend's House, which has been providing safe refuge and support to abused women and their children in the Georgian Triangle for 25 years. Men get involved because their grandmother, their mother, their sister, their friend, their daughter or their co-worker could have or did receive help from My Friend's House.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 and have at least 100 walkers registered (each man is asked to raise a minimum of $100).  Although only men can register to participate, women play a huge part in this event by encouraging men to take part, assisting them in fundraising to reach their goal and cheering them on during the event.

Anyone interested in sponsoring, walking, volunteering, donating or pledging can get more information at our website or on our official Facebook page.
