Many of our daily activities affect the environment, but few people have stopped to consider the most important: their personal contribution to global warming. For eight weeks the Environment Network invites you to consider your own individual contribution to global warming—and challenges you to go on a Low Carbon Diet.
The goal is to reduce the amount of CO2 that you put into the atmosphere by 5000 lbs in a year.
If you’re a carbon glutton who doesn’t bother to turn off the lights when you leave the house, you may find this diet pretty painless. (And just think of the fringe benefits—lower heating bills, poorer oil barons). But even if you’re already a svelte recycler or a carpooler, there’s a lot more you can do.
We will be hosting a series of Cool Community “Weigh-Ins” in the communities of Collingwood, Creemore, Thornbury and Wasaga Beach. These “Weigh-Ins” will provide you with the tools you need to learn about your carbon footprint and how you can reduce it. There are many “crash diet” items that you only have to do once and can do right away to dramatically shed the CO2 pounds! And there are hundreds of other “diet tips” and challenges that we will give to you to achieve your CO2 weight loss.
We want you to be successful in this program so we will be providing the motivation, guidance, support, knowledge, tools, reminders, tips and challenges while the program continues. You will see the results of not only your efforts but amongst the entire community. All of these pounds will quickly add up!
Dates for Cool Community “Weigh-Ins” are as follows:
