Heather Carroll, owner of Loft Gallery Inc., is a champion for artists with a vision and plan to see them flourish.

Part of that plan was moving the gallery from Clarksburg to downtown Thornbury where she and a team of experts designed a modern, bright institutional space that rivals the best galleries in North America.

Carroll worked with MW Designs for the new gallery design and Samantha Pollock of Sparrow Blue Marketing for a new website (coming soon). Jack Martin of Leviton designed the LED lighting system for the gallery. His past credits include work on the McMichael gallery in Kleinburg.

"I have such great people around me, and I think that creates greatness," said Carroll.

And speaking of greatness, the talents of the Loft Gallery Inc. artists inspire Carroll to dream big.

"I see my whole role as building the reputation and providing exposure for artists - they are great at what they do," she said.

There are currently 23 Loft Gallery Inc. artists including artist-in-residence Debra Lynn Carroll, who is known for her large, textured landscapes. Jennifer Woodburn is widely known for her Group-of-Seven style landscapes. Janet Liesemer is popular for her realistic barns, lighthouses, and landscapes, and offers classes at the gallery. Lorne McDermott is a painter on site and formerly a McMichael gallery teacher. Brian Buckrell specializes in plein air and colourful, highly-stylized impressionistic pieces.

Carroll has owned Loft Gallery Inc. for two years. It was the passion of the artists and the appeal of working with them and helping them spend more time on what they love that made her fall in love with the business concept.

"Artists are exceptionally passionate people," she said. "And they all have stories to tell. Every artist in here has their own story of what brought them to the canvas."

Loft Gallery Inc. is now located at 18 Bruce Street in Thornbury. There will be a grand opening to celebrate the new location on April 15. There will be live music and daytime activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and an evening wine and cheese reception with the artists starting at 5:30 p.m.
