A local business has another medal to display in their store – two in fact. Wine Works, a ferment-on-premises located on Ronell Crescent, won both a Gold and a Bronze medal at the 2012 International Amateur Wine Making Competition held in Manchester, Vermont.

The competition, sponsored by Winemaker Magazine, included over 4,300 entries from 7 countries including 50 different states and 8 Canadian provinces.

The wines that were judged could be made from juices or kits and then submitted into one of 50 categories depending on the grape or the blend.  John Scheben-Edey, proprietor at Wine Works submitted 3 wines to the competition and won Gold for his Italian Valpolicella Ripassa and, a Bronze for his German Riesling Gewurztraminer.  “ We are very proud of this accomplishment.  It’s nice to know that even after more than 22 years in the business, our attention to detail is still at a level where we are producing the best quality products for our customers” said Scheben-Edey.

Wine Works is a licensed ferment-on-premises facility where customers are able to participate in making their own high quality wines and beers.
