Cynthia Landriault has always been interested in anything artistic. The Wasaga Beach resident submitted the winning entry in the Wasaga Beach Blues poster art contest. "When creating this design I knew I wanted to go with a whimsical image, in the hopes of appealing to families. After several thumbnails I settled on the treble clef and guitar on the beach. To make the image more dramatic I incorporated a setting sun and an emotional colour pallet," Landriault says.

Landriault, who graduated from Humber College's Interior Design Program in 1995, has worked as a drafts person as well as a gallery manager. She has volunteered with the community theater group in Wasaga Beach and at Birchview Dunes Public School, both to paint sets. Landriault always has a personal project in the works too.

She saw the announcement about the contest in the April edition of beach Booster. "I entered the contest because I thought it would be a fun challenge to design a poster, something I had not done before," Landriault says. "Entering this contest has been a wonderful experience for me."  A bookkeeper at Bay Haven Senior Care Community in Collingwood, Landriault grew up in Orangeville: She has lived in the Georgian Triangle for 16 years, nine of them in Wasaga Beach.

As the winner, Landriault will receive Stonebridge Bucks; a T-shirt; an article, with photographs, in Stonebridge Magazine; an invitation to the Wasaga Beach Blues Media Launch and two tickets to the Wasaga Beach Blues Boogie Woogie Blues Banquet (Sept. 12). This is a chance for her to be part of one of Canada's newest free music festivals, which takes place from Sept.13 to 15 at the Stonebridge Town Centre at 291 Main St at River Road West.  With a varied lineup that includes veteran and emerging musicians, Wasaga Beach Blues will transform Stonebridge Town Centre and fill it with the gritty sounds of the blues.

"Wasaga Beach Blues is truly becoming an international event. We are proud to be presenting some of Mississippi's finest blues artists, who will join Canada's best in blues, including Downchild, Jack de Keyzer and Paul James. Sept.12, 13, 14 and 15," says Chuck Jackson the musical director for Wasaga Beach Blues.

The Stonebridge Boulevard Street Shuffle will feature 12 bands on Saturday Sept. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. Wasaga Beach Blues, will also feature performances at Boston Pizza and Wild Wing. Tickets for the Boogie Woogie Blues Banquet are $75 and are available at the UPS Store in Wasaga Beach in the Stonebridge Town Centre. Call 705-429-7030 or by email

For 2013, the Wasaga Beach Home & Leisure Show, hosted by Beach Booster will be held in conjunction with the festival on Sept. 14 and 15 at The Stonebridge Town Centre.

While Wasaga Beach Blues is a free music festival, donations are gratefully accepted. All donations will go to support the new Wasaga Beach Public Library. The Blues has a new home in Wasaga Beach.
