The biggest and best fundraiser of the year for Hospice Georgian Triangle (HGT) is fast approaching and everyone is invited.
The annual Hike or Bike for Hospice Georgian Triangle is on Sunday May 28th in both Collingwood and Wasaga Beach. Starting points for this fun day are at the Collingwood Curling Club and the Wasaga Beach RecPlex. Guided Hikes will take place on the Collingwood Trails and along the Beach, as well as guided Bike rides of either 5km (ideal for families), or 20km. Pick your favourite way to get active and help raise much needed dollars along the way.
Lunch is provided to all participants by HGT's community partners Sobeys and Boston Pizza. For a minimum donation of $20 per person, you can take part in all the fun. Live music, face painting, photo booth, balloon animals - we've got you covered for the whole family.
"This is an opportunity for us at HGT to gather with our community to help spread awareness of our services and to raise funds for our organization. The Ministry of Health only funds 50 per cent of our operating costs, so 100 per cent of all money raised by the Hike or Bike for Hospice goes directly into providing our programs, including the care at Campbell House," says Kelly Borg, Executive Director of HGT.
Andrea Rinaldo, Collingwood artist and organizer of the Collingwood Art Crawl, who spent a short time at Campbell House with her Mother, Betty Rinaldo in October of 2015, is supporting the Hike or Bike for Hospice because "this community is so blessed to have Hospice Georgian Triangle and Campbell House. It is so important for all of us. I want Hospice to be there for me and my children when it’s needed. Perhaps the part I love the most is that it is not exclusive - it's for everyone in this community. There is no cost to the patient or family, so anyone can have the opportunity to live out the rest of their life in this amazing place with their fantastic care."Check-in for the event on May 28th starts at 9:30am in both locations. You can sign-up to participate or donate to the event online at the Hospice website. Gather your friends and family, and Hike or Bike in memory of someone you love, and help support our friends and neighbours in the Georgian Triangle when they need it most.
