We are Hospice Georgian Triangle (HGT), established in 1985, we provide help and support to people with limited life expectancy and their families or caregivers. Our organization is part of the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association with Hospices in over 200 communities across the country. We operate in the South Georgian Bay providing services to people in the towns of Blue Mountains, Clearview, Collingwood and Wasaga Beach.

Hospice has an annual operating budget, which is slightly over two hundred thousand dollars. Client care and professional nursing assistance costs represents 75% of our expenses of which only 33% is funded by government.

On Sunday May 1st, 2011 we will host, for the first time in our region, the Hike for Hospice. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the role of Hospice and the ever growing need for its services as well as raise some of the much needed funds required to keep the organization going for at least another 26 years.

The Hike will start from the Collingwood Curling Club and will consist of three routes; a 1 Km route, a 5 K route and a 10 Km route.  The 10 Km route will start at Scenic Caves and proceed along a circular trail along the top of the escarpment.   Lunch will be provided for Hikers at the end of the Hike at the Curling Club. You can help this very worthy cause by participating as a Hiker or sponsor someone who is. To do so you can go to our website, click on the Hike symbol and sign up as a Hiker or sponsor someone you know is hiking.
