|Georgian Hills Vineyards are very excited about the announcement for the 2009 vintage ice wine grape harvest which will be picked and pressed today Wednesday December 30th. In the tradition of ice wine making by VQA regulations) ice wine grapes must only be picked at below - 8 degrees Celsius and then also pressed at -8 degrees or colder.|
These frozen grapes will be hand picked by a group of hardy volunteers and friends and neighbours of Georgian Hills Vineyards. As the grapes are pressed while frozen only a very small amount of nectar is released, this is then fermented slowly over a period of time to make our ice wine better known as VIDAL "Frozen on the Vine”.
This year is especially exciting says Robert Ketchin (partner) as we will be pressing our grapes in the old cow barn which will be the future site for our winery at Grey Road 2 at Victoria Corners, hopefully opening by mid summer 2010.
Georgian Hills Vineyards very recently released their 2008 Vidal "Frozen on the Vine" which comes in 200 ml bottles for just $20. This delicious sweet wine is very concentrated with flavours of honey, apricots, figs, pears and is perfect with dark chocolate and strawberries!
