Things are heating up for the Collingwood Elvis Festival, local businesses and accommodation providers preparing for the influx of visitors and Elvis Tribute Artists.  This year marks Collingwood’s 14th annual Elvis Festival with 133 Tribute Artists registered.  That’s a whole lot of hairspray and spandex and most of all, some really fantastic talent with over 25 Vegas style shows.  The Elvis Tribute Artist in this photo is Collingwood’s own Matthew Lawrence.  Matthew recently starred as Danny in CCI’s musical rendition of Grease to a sold out crowd with standing ovations.

mycollingwood has all of the details about the Collingwood Elvis Festival.  Just click on the icons for schedule of events, festival map and parking maps.  My insider information is that by-law enforcement officers and police may be ticketing cars that are parked illegally on Pine and Maple Streets to name a few.

A reminder that during the Festival, be sure to visit our Community Photo Gallery.  If you can’t be here in person…you can be here in spirit.

The Wasaga Beach RecPlex venue is back again this year with Elvis:  His Life in Music.  This one night only show is a must see starring Collingwood Champion Gino Monopoli with Geri & the Coasters. Tickets are $35 - $45 with reserved seating.  Show is from 8 – 11pm.  Book tickets by clicking on this link.

If you’re planning on being in Wasaga Beach this weekend, remember that Wasaga Under Siege is underway.

Need to check your e-mail while you’re visiting?   Just a reminder that we now have an Internet Café right downtown.  Kat’s Place is located at 207 Hurontario Street.

Blue Ridge Meats has provided some Southern style recipes this month in the spirit of the Elvis Festival.

If you’re driving through Barrie on your way to Collingwood and need a bite you eat, I strongly suggest you try Fishbowl Restaurant at 336 Bayfield Street.  Dan and I stopped there for dinner last week and it was a delightful experience.  We had a nice chat with restaurant owner Louise Cantin and found out a little bit more about how this restaurant began with very humble beginnings.  It’s a true ‘feel good’ story about how the small fry makes it big.  The family owned dining experience started as a small fish and chips spot in Timmins, Ontario and if you visit their website, you can view a fun video showing photos of how the business and grown over time

Check out our list of amazing restaurantsfamily dining and nightlife to plan on how to feed yourself, your friends and your family.  A personal recommendation is The First Street Bistro for an exceptional dining experience.

Tickets for Titz n’ Glitz are sold out but there are lots of raffle tickets available.  Raffle tickets are $20 each and the grand prize is a Home Entertainment Package valued at $8,500.  Second prize is a weekend spa package valued at $1,610 and third prize is a mountain bike valued at $600.  Call me at 444.0123 or e-mail if you want to purchase a raffle ticket or a book of tickets.  The funds raised help local families who need assistance during a very difficult time.  You don’t have to be present at the event to win the raffle prizes.

A night with Tequila happens Thursday July 24th at JD's Lounge, Pine Street, 7 p.m. Includes five premium tequilas, finger food, and slide show Powerpoint presentation. Plus a surprise or two... Takes about an hour. $25 a ticket at JD's.

Discover Arbonne in Collingwood.  Come and see why Arbonne is the fastest growing company in the Direct Sales Association.  Ladies, if you’re looking for another way to boost your income, check out this seminar on August 14th at the Collingwood Public Library.  I personally have been using the Anti-aging skin care line for the past month and am very pleased with the results.  My skin just feels better and I believe looks better because I have pretty much stopped using foundation.  I don’t look in the mirror in the morning anymore and think ‘yuk…I have to do something about the bags under my eyes’.

The Backdoor Lounge is the new hot spot to check out.  The former location of Mary’s restaurant in Craigleith.  Open Thursday – Saturday from 5pm – when the fun stops.  Don’t forget to ask for their signature home-made Georgian Triangle Burger.  The funky $4.99 menu changes all the time, as well, they have an excellent value priced bar menu and a BBQ on the back deck.  Check the website for live music updates. would like to welcome our new clients:
