This beautiful appetizer platter is one of the new items that you will find on Brunello 27 on Fourth’s menu that launches March 1, 2012 in celebration of 5 years in business.  Congratulations to Chef Mario and Teresa Comenga.  Find out about great options for March Break, who won the Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and what Azzurra has on their brand new lunch menu.

I had the opportunity to lunch with Chef Leona Nyman of Azzurra in Downtown Collingwood and check out some of the menu items on their new lunch menu.  Delicious and highly recommended.  Well priced, excellent food is always something to be happy about.

Congratulations to the Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce Business Award winners.  Special Merit Awards were given to Lynda Wykes; and Dr. Tina Grey of Blue Mountain Veterinary Services; The Site Improvement Award went to Steven and Jennifer Vipond of Bruce Wine Bar; The Customer Service Award went to Terry and Judy Smith of The Grist Mill; Entrepreneur of the Year was awarded to Chefs Andrew Barber and Scott Chalmers of Simplicity Bistro  and drum roll please…Business of the Year was awarded to David and Trish Smith of the Thornbury Bakery. Congratulations to all and thank you for your commitment to excellence.

If you’re planning for March Break, we’ve got lots of snow and no shortage of activities and events to keep you and your kids busy, happy and entertained.  The Blue Mountain Village has loaded the schedule including a free concert with SUZIE MCNEIL with Special Guest KIRA ISABELLA on Wednesday March 14!

The slopes at Blue Mountain Resort are in prime condition and the operations team has the snow groomed to perfection.  Check out their website to stay tapped into slope side events, activities and daily snow conditions.

Scenic Caves Nordic Centre is highly recommended.  Snowshoeing across Ontario Longest Suspension Bridge is a lot of fun and now there are new trails that were cut last season that can take you under the bridge as well.

Another option is Highlands Nordic. They are offering March Break camps and a Maple Syrup drop in.

Free Spirit Tours offers winter caving and snowshoe adventures at Metcalf Rock.
If you’re looking for kids’ camps or other activities to keep your children active here are some options:

Drama Training with Theatre Collingwood

Purple Platypus with Collingwood Gymnastics

For the creative genius in your family, Crock a Doodle in The Blue Mountain Village , TheBay School of Art and Holy Crow Beads will satisfy the urge to be crafty.

Winter Apple Pie Trail Adventures, Elephant Thoughts March Break Camp.

For some indoor family fun, you might want to try Georgian Bowl and right down the street is the Candy Factory.  Call in advance to find out when candy is being made and watch from the viewing room.

Looking for some history lessons and culture?  You can visit the Collingwood Museum or the Craigleigh Heritage Depot

For those of you that would like to travel a little further North for March Break, you might be surprised to find out that Cobble Beach is open in the Winter.  They are offering 10% off accommodations – new bookings only, and have acreas and acres of Cross Country Skiing and Showshoe trails available.  Not to mention an amazing dining room and spa facility as well.

Have a safe and happy March Break
